The NAAA Qualified Buyers Agent Advantage

Purchasing an aircraft can be fun and exciting but it can also be expensive and frustrating at the same time.  Different solutions exist for all buyers and these range from "do it yourself and hope for the best" to "let an experienced professional do it" along with anything in between.

Unfortunately, most buyers start with the "do it yourself" approach and wind up spending thousands needlessly to look at aircraft that are overpriced to begin with and which look very little like the ad/photos said it would.  Of course once an aircraft is found that is remotely close to something the buyer would want to buy, they will pay almost any price to avoid starting the process all over again.  It also begins a new set of questions such as what price will you offer, what are the terms of the sale and how do you avoid losing this opportunity?

Soon, individuals who are frustrated and unsuccessful in their initial approach turn to professional help.  In many cases this is the traditional broker or dealer.  While many of these are good, honest, individuals, their commission is based on the selling price of the aircraft.  They have no incentive to discuss the aircraft's market value and, in fact, the higher they can get the selling price to be, the more money they make on the deal.  In some cases, brokers will acts as a "buyers agent" but they may also represent the individual who owns the aircraft and this does not have to be disclosed to either party.  Of course there is another professional solution that is directed solely toward the buyer - and only the buyer.  That solution is the NAAA Qualified Buyers Agent.

the qualified buyers agent difference

Unlike brokers and dealers, the NAAA Qualified Buyers Agent Service is based on a flat fee and it involves providing detailed information to the buyer that allows them to make informed purchasing decisions before going to look at any aircraft or putting in any funds into the deal itself.  Once candidate aircraft are identified the aircraft is appraised which involves a physical examination of the aircraft, its log books and maintenance records along with any other related documentation.  The client is then provided with a report that details these findings along with an opinion of value that is based on current selling prices.  This report is then used to develop an offer along with the Purchase Agreement which identifies the terms and conditions of the deal.  If a price or the terms and conditions cannot be successfully negotiated, the next aircraft on the list is then considered and the process continues.

Is the NAAA Qualified Buyers Agent Solution right for your situation?  It depends.  Ask these questions about anyone who is being hired to help you.

  • Will they physically examine candidate aircraft along with all log books and maintenance records?
  • Will they provide a report of their findings along with the market value of the aircraft using current market data?
  • Will they recommend aircraft to you based on your budget and stated needs or are they "pushing" specific aircraft?
  • Do they adhere to published and industry recognized ethics and standards?
  • Do they charge a flat fee based on the type of aircraft under consideration or are they being paid a commission based on the selling price of the aircraft?
  • Will they represent you - and only you - throughout the process?
  • Will they work with your bank to ensure that there are no surprises at closing?

If you answered "NO" to any of these questions then the Qualified Buyers Agent may be a good solution for your situation.
